The couple, who met on “Dancing With the Stars” and have been dating for a year, announced their split on Twitter Friday.
“Hi everyone, we wanted you all to know directly from us, that Shannon & I have decided to end our relationship as boyfriend & girlfriend…,” they each posted in matching Twitter messages. “However, we love and care about each other very much and will remain friends and in each others lives.”
A few hours later, Elizabeth thanked fans for their positive words.
“Thank you everyone for all your sweet words & encouragement – it really means a lot to me!” she posted.
