A producer for the show 48 Hours was arrested for his involvement in the attempted $2 million extortion case against David Letterman.

The AP reports that it was Robert Halderman demanded the money from Letterman in exchange for keeping an affair with a female employee named Stephanie Birkitt (who he lived with) quiet. Letterman told fans about his situation last night on his show saying, "This morning I did something I've never done in my life and it was a combination of just unusual and scary..I had to go downtown to testify before the grand jury and I had to tell them how I...felt menaced by this and I had to tell them all of the creepy things that I have done."
