Mischa Barton kept on psychiatric hold

mischa-bartonPolice in Los Angeles were called to actress Mischa Barton’s home for “medical issues” Wednesday, according to an LAPD spokesperson.

Cops were asked to visit the former “O.C.” star’s home in Los Angeles after Barton reportedly called a non-911 number asking for help. A patrol car picked Barton up from her home and escorted her to an unknown location, according to Access Hollywood.

“We responded to her home last night on a medical issue,” Officer April Harding said. “We assisted with it. She was removed from her home.”

She’s been reportedly placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold (also known as a 5150, what Britney Spears was hauled in under back in 2008) by the Los Angeles Police Department and is currently at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The code gives authorities the power to hold her for up to 72 hours.

The hold means Barton will miss the premiere of her new movie, “Homecoming,” set for tonight in New York City.

Barton, who is set to star in this fall’s CW show “The Beautiful Life,” was previously charged with DUI and marijuana possession last year. She was sentenced by a Los Angeles court judge to 36 months probation, attend alcohol education classes and pay a fine.
