Ryan Reynolds’ running nightmare

ryan_reynoldsI’m with Ryan Reynolds. Running sucks. Yet the actor (unlike me) didn’t stop that from letting him run the New York Marathon.

The “Proposal” star completed the 26-mile run last November, benefitting the Michael J. Fox Foundation – which raises money for research into Parkinson’s disease, in the hope of finding a cure. He raised more than $100,000 but hated the experience.

Referring to war movie “Platoon”, Ryan said: “I found the whole thing utterly dreadful. Painful. A lot of people have this romantic notion that it’s going to be a fantastic thing. I think they always picture themselves in slow motion with glorious sunshine on their backs.

“Through miles 20-26 it’s like a graveyard. You pass people lying on the ground, paramedics helping them, just like ‘Platoon’ but everyone is in expensive running gear.”

He’s looking for new ways to stay healthy now.

“Needless to say, I haven’t run since the marathon. I like walking so I’d like to live in New York more,” he said. “In Los Angeles there’s very little interaction with people and that’s what I miss.”
